Eid Takbeer

اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ، وَاللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، وَلِلَّهِ الْحَمْدُ

Transliteration

Allahu akbaru Allahu akbar, la ilaha illallah, wallahu akbaru Allahu akbar, wa lillahil-hamd

Translation

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. None is worthy of worship but Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.

What this dua means

It fills Eid with the declaration of Allah's greatness and praise.

When to read it

Say it from the night before Eid until the Eid prayer, aloud on the way to the prayer.

Its virtue

It was the practice of Ibn Mas'ud and the early Muslims on both Eids.
