When Leaving the House

Source: Sunan Abi Dawud 5095; Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3426

Transliteration

Translation

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah — there is no power nor strength except with Allah.

What this dua means

Three sentences at your doorstep: Allah's name, your trust in Him, and the admission that all strength is His.

When to read it

Every time you leave the house — for work, errands, anything.

Virtue

The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever says it when leaving home is told, 'You are guided, sufficed, and protected' — and Satan stays away from him. (Abu Dawud 5095)
