Visiting the Sick

Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 5675

أَذْهِبِ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، اشْفِ وَأَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration

Adhhib al-ba'sa rabb an-nas, ishfi antash-shafi, la shifa'a illa shifa'uk, shifa'an la yughadiru saqama

Translation

Remove the hardship, Lord of mankind, heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing but Your healing, a healing that leaves no sickness.

What this dua means

It asks Allah alone for complete healing for the sick person.

When to read it

Say it when visiting a sick person, placing your hand on them if you can.

Its virtue

The Prophet would comfort the sick with these words, and Allah is the only true source of cure.
