The Dua of Yunus
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ
Transliteration
La ilaha illa anta, subhanaka, inni kuntu minaz-zalimin.
Translation
None has the right to be worshipped but You — glory be to You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.
What this dua means
The cry of Prophet Yunus from inside the whale, in total darkness: first Allah's oneness, then His perfection, then an honest confession. Allah answered him — and He answers whoever calls with it.
When to read it
In any distress, grief, or seemingly impossible situation.
Virtue
The Prophet ﷺ said: the supplication of Yunus — no Muslim supplicates with it for anything but Allah answers him. (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3505)
